Award-winning, design and experience-led hostel group Generator, today announces a collaboration with high-profile chef, Luke Thomas.
Luke will inspire the transformation of the food offering across the Generator portfolio with the aim of injecting a fresh, relevant and casual food experience. At the age of 12, Luke began his culinary career and quickly went on to work at Michelin restaurants such as Alinea in Chicago, publishing his cookbook, titled ‘Luke’s Cookbook’ in 2014. In the past few years, Thomas has also opened Luke’s Eating House in Chester and Retro Feasts in Dubai.
Generator is a disruptive brand offering a new lifestyle inspired twist on shared accommodation, attracting primarily the millennial and emerging gen Z generations with its affordable yet stylish offering. This new age informed consumer is inspired by fresh, authentic and shareable food experiences. Luke will be working with each individual hostel focusing on local produce and flavours, taking inspiration directly from neighbourhood street food and culture.
Luke’s influence can already be experienced at the Amsterdam Generator, where the brand recently launched its 11th unit in the trendy Oost Park neighbourhood. Luke has developed the all-day casual food offering inspired by the local community; from a Benedict bun at brunch, through to “Slow & low” harissa lamb pitta with mint & pomegranate yogurt. Luke works with the chefs in each Generator location to create a curated offer that inspires individuality and style within each menu.
Luke Thomas commented: “My vision for Generator is the creation of unique, modern eating experiences that get people talking and sharing. Being part of their journey is super exciting as it allows me to connect people through food on a global scale. Exposure to foods and cultures in cities where Generator is located allows me to interpret global trends with authentic, local flavours.”
Fredrik Korallus, CEO at Generator stated: “Our dynamic food offering is a fundamental part of the sociable lifestyle experience we create. Our guests are looking for fresh, local food that they can share with others. Luke is connected with his generation and has a unique way of interpreting local and global trends into exciting, simple and fresh offerings.”
